Dear Georgians,

I am no longer holding the post of senior assistant of co-curriculum as all teachers who took up the offer to become sixth form lecturers have to relinquish whatever administrative posts they are holding.

However, I decided to keep this blog alive for academic purposes. My areas of expertise are mathematics, business and research. I have taught mathematics T for over 20 years but now I am teaching sixth form business studies(Pengajian Perniagaan) . So if students wish to ask me questions on maths and business , they are welcome to do so, I will try my utmost effort to answer your questions.

Jadual perjumpaan Kokurikulum

Kepada semua guru dan pelajar:

Mulai tahun ini , pihak sekolah telah membuat banyak perubahan dalam bidang kokurikulum, seperti berikut:

Perjumpaan kokurikulum tidak lagi diadakan pada pagi Rabu. Semua aktiviti persatuan dan kelab serta kelab sukan/permainan akan diadakan pada sebelah petang ,jam 4.00 ptg. Jadual perjumpaan akan ditetapkan nanti. Semua pasukan beruniform akan mengadakan perjumpaan pada hari Sabtu, jam 8.00 pagi.
Lebih banyak kelab sukan dan permainan telah diwujudkan.
Setiap pelajar wajib menyertai satu pasukan beruniform, satu kelab/persatuan dan satu kelab sukan dan permainan.
Semua pelajar wajib hadir pada setiap perjumpaan kokurikulum.

Dimaklumkan bahawa Semua pelajar tingkatan 6 rendah mesti menyertai tiga aktiviti kokurikulum mengikut ketentuan berikut:

Satu Pasukan Uniform
Satu Persatuan
Satu Sukan

Diingatkan bahawa pelajar tidak boleh menyertai lebih daripda satu pasukan uniform dan satu persatuan/kelab

Semua pelajar perlu membeli satu kad hijau kehadiran kokurikulum untuk dicatat kehadiran semasa menghadiri mana-mana aktiviti kokurikulum. Kehadiran adalah sangat penting sebab ia menyumbang sehingga 50% jumlah markah kokurikulum.

we will be coming back with Tzuo Hann on bikes in a three days journey via Kangar, Alor Setar , Kulim and Parit Buntar to Taiping. All of us are first time long distance bikers and I hope everybody can make it.

Those who are going will need to send your bikes to Kimal Sdn.Bhd(Besides Maxis Kamunting and Fajar) by 8.00 am. Later at 11 am, go to school and wait for the bus(with your luggage)

The MIA2007 was postponed by the organiser due to technical problems, so looks like we need to postpone the trip to July or later. I will decide whether to refund those students who have paid up the fares or retain the money for the later tour. Check in my blog for latest updates. I am sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Cancellation of the Aerospace 2007 tour

It is sad to announce that the above tour is cancelled as the response was not encouraging. However, I still hope that we might be able to organise another trip later. So for those who have paid the money , you can claim them back starting from today.

Kelab Rukun Negara

In view of the increasing cases of conflicts involving students of different races, the government has decided to promote racial harmony among youngters through the implementation of various programmes such as RIMUP and National Service. The latest programme is to form the Rukun Negara Club in school.

According to a circular from the department of education, every school has to from the Rukun Negara Club. So, I hope that many students especially lower six students will join the club.

As for the national service, those who are eligible but not selected can still apply to join the NS intake 3. If you are interested, please see me for the details.

MIA 2007 (Aerospace Show)

The MIA2007 tour is still on. We now have about 23 paid-up students so we need another 15 more to make the trip.I heard that some of you have paid the ticket money so please hurry up to pay up the balance of RM132 before or on Friday(11/5/2007). The co-curriculum website

Our co-curriculum website is almost done. You can browse most of its contents especially the section concerning 10% co-curriculum marks . In this section, you can download the pdf file and then print it out if you want to. It contains detail info regarding the calculation of the co-curriculum marks , it is indeed very useful for form 5 and form 6 students. If you still have doubts regarding the calculations, you can email me or see me personally.

Besides, I would like to see that commitee members of all the units can build your own websites or blogs so that I can link them here. It is very easy to start a blog, just go to Google to start an account and then login to blogger. See me if you have problems. We are living in a fast changing world especially in ICT, so blogging or website designing are good ways to keep yourselves up to date with latest developments.

SGI co-curriculum website

I have designed the front page of our school co-curriculum website but at the moment it is still under construction. You can access the website at

It will only be functional in one or two weeks time as I'm too busy right now. So please check back often for its updates.

I have also asked the cyber club members to design our school website but so far haven't received any report from them. I hope they can buck up and start our website soon as most schools have already put their website online.

As for the MIA2007 (Aerospace) trip, quite a number of students especially those from the afternoon session are still keen to join the organised tour (cost RM157) so we might be able to make up one bus of 40 students. Morning students who are still interested to join the above tour can still do so by paying the full amount on Monday(7/4/2007). For those of you who prefer to organise your own tour can go ahead with the trip if you can arrange bus and hotel. I can help in the paper works.

Visual Basic Programming

Attention all cyber club members:

A lot of people think that they are IT savvy but they know nothing much beside surfing the Internet and able to do some words processing. As Cyber club members, you should learn more about IT and willing to explore and try new things. For example, you can start a blog like myself so that you can cultivate the habit of writing. You can also design a webpage.

However, it is more interesting and challenging if you venture into programming, like VB, C++, JAVA , Flash's action script and so on. For beginners, I suggest you start with Visual Basic because it is much easier to learn. Incidentally, I have written a book on Visual Basic programming and I am also running an online tutorial at http://www.vbtutor.net where you can learn some tips about VB programming.

Latest Updates on MIA2007

Attention to all students who wish to visit MIA2007 ,

The tour package for the MIA2007 is already finalised. It includes visits to KLCC Skybridge, National Science Centre,KL Tower, Telekom Museum, Time Square IMAX 3D movie, Eye on Malaysian Ride(the tallest Ferris wheel in Malaysia), Laser Show and Water Theatre, TUDM Museum (where you can witness remote control aeroplane, water Rocket Show, Hot Air Ballon Experiment, Flight Simulator, Paper Plane workshop) , Galeria Sri Perdana and the fantanstic MIA2007! The tour package also includes one breakfast at the Hotel, Hotel Stay, bus fare, Admission Fees to TUDM, MIA and EOM. For all these goodies you only need to pay RM175. I will try to figure out the subsidy you can get from the co-curriculum fund which means you will pay less than RM175. Please pay up RM25 to confirm a place by Monday(30/4/2007) and the balance I will collect from you in a week time. The dates for the tour are 8th and 9th of June 2007.

Please pay up earlier to book a place so that you won't miss this once in a lifetime chance!

Membership of uniform units

To all fifth and sixth formers,

I noticed that many of you didn't join any uniform unit, this is a big mistake.
If you are not a member of any uniform unit, you might not be awarded the 10% mark for your co-curriculum activities. So make up your mind today and join a uniform unit.

St.George Co-curriculum website

This website will provide important information such as the co-curricular evaluation system(Penilaian Aktiviti kokurikulum), list of committee members of various clubs, societies and uniform units, outstanding awards, photos, database of your co-curricular scores, schedule of various activities and programmes and etc.

I hope that this website will be a one-stop info centre for all matters related to co-curriculum of SMK St.George.

Aerospace show

There is a possibility that the ticket price could be reduced a little bit more but it is not confirmed yet.

We would most likely go to KL on 8th of June and back on 9th of June. Beside visiting the aerospace show, our itinerary would include visits to the national science centre and the petrol science centre. The cost of the tour includes bus fare and lodging as well as ticket fees . The exact amount of money you have to pay will be announced later.

This blog will be the platform of communication for all Georgians especially for the students and teachers of SMK St.george.

News and info related to extra curricular activities will be posted from time to time so please check back often to keep updated.

The hottest news shall be the coming aerospace show in Subang starting on the 5th of June 2007. Tentatively we have planned to visit the site on 8th of June but it has not been finalised yet. So far about 68 students have signed up but only 13 have paid the ticket fees of RM25. The closing date for the special offer is on 24 April 2007 so please hurry up. For those who are interested but haven't signed up yet can still register and pay up the ticket fee by tuesday. The ticket fees shall not be refundable if you decided not to go later but you can transfer to someone else.

Details of the organised tour shall be disclosed later.
